The Portuguese Trading Post can be built in a Port region once the Portuguese Traders have arrived and you have accepted their offer. Accepting the Portuguese means accepting Christianity. This can lead to religious unrest, particularly in provinces with Buddhist temples. Trading with the Portuguese does allow you to train Arquebusiers, gunners equipped with simple arquebuses. These can give you a distinct advantage on the battlefield.
