These men are the elite of Russian cavalry, being the household troops of the grand princes, or "Tsars" as they were later to style themselves. They are superbly protected by the finest Asian style lamellar armour, and along with their armoured horses, they are almost immune to the arrows of steppe horse archers. With spear and shield, they are formidable fighters in close combat.
