Chichimec Scouts are lightly armed and unarmoured, allowing them to quickly move about battlefields looking for enemy units. Once enemies are found they can then direct their main fighting force to engage. Due to their light nature, the Scouts are best used to flank an enemy unit after it has been engaged.
