These Samurai foot soldiers are equipped with heavy
armour and Naginata - short polearms. They are very
strong defensively but a little slow. Use them to resist
enemy shock troops.
Extra info:
The naginata is a dangerous weapon in the hands of
a samurai. Its reach may not be as long as a yari, but
it is “handier” for close combat and has a greater
attack range than a sword. This makes it a terrible
weapon to face: for example, a single sweep from a
naginata can neatly decapitate a charging horseman
or cripple his horse. In either case, the horseman has
been defeated!
Samurai who used the naginata often used heavier
armour than was usual which makes them a little less mobile than other samurai units. It does, however, give them defensive bonuses in combat.
